The interface as an abstract concept

Is a banana an interface?

Interfaces are standardized and arbitrary. The speaker then goes through a ton of wonderful “taking for granted” interfaces like drinking fountains, pill bottles, guitar, car, etc.

Standards are not necessarily right/wrong. They are.

The Nintendo Wii controller is cool because it’s a synthesis of “off the shelf” components that already existed to create a completely awesome (and best selling) device to use in gaming.
